At her suggestion, my dear friend Karla and I prepared a cover of “The Blessing” as a farewell gift to our friends at the rehab center. We sang it live for them but also recorded it to share with others — that’s you!
The lyrics are based on how God directed spiritual leaders to bless His people, the Israelites. The words are documented in the Bible in the book of Numbers, and they have sentimental value for me. My earliest and most tender memories are my dad singing these words (different song) over me as a small child when I woke up in the middle of the night and struggled to fall back asleep.1
